Dinner by Design returns to Scranton Cultural Center

 
A beautifully-designed table setting is as important as a great menu when it comes to entertaining. And one of the best ways to learn how to create the perfect ambiance for your guests is by viewing the work of design experts.
 
You can do just that at the Scranton Cultural center this weekend, as the third annual Dinner by Design will be held March 1 through 3. Presented by the Scranton Cultural Center and the Lackawanna County Historical Society, the event features the work of professional designers, who will transform rooms and unique spaces in the historic center into delightful dining places.
 
Dinner by Design will open on March 1 at 7 p.m., with a preview party in the Grand Ballroom of the Scranton Cultural Center. Event attendees will have the first chance to get a glimpse of this year’s designs, shop the marketplace, and enjoy food prepared by Paul Wanas of Accentuate Catering, an open bar and live music by the Jazz Assassins. Open to all, tickets for the preview party are $60 or $70 for the combination ticket, which includes admission to the preview party as well as a weekend pass.
 
Following the preview night, the event will open to the public for touring on March 2 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and March 3 from 12 to 5 p.m. Tickets for the two day exhibit touring are $15 in advance or $20 at the door.
 
Guests will also have the opportunity to purchase dinner related items at this year’s expanded marketplace. A variety of vendors will offer items such as candles, sauces, fresh flowers, baked goods and home décor. Bar service as well as a catered lunch by Accentuate Catering will be available throughout the weekend.
 
Tickets for exhibit tours and demonstrations are $15 per person in advance; or $20 per person at the door. Preview Party tickets are $60 per person. A combination ticket (Preview Party plus weekend pass) is $70 per person.
