Media
It doesn’t matter if you wake up to the sounds of your morning radio as your alarm shakes you from your slumber, the voice of your morning meteorologist telling you about the next storm on the way, or the sound of the newspaper thumping against your front door, members of the local media are by your side throughout the day. Check out this lovely cast of characters and the companies they croon for, as we announce our Best Of results in the Media category.
Best Morning Radio Show winners Rocky and Sue kick off your day with their zany on-air shtick. Whether they’re getting responses from questions only residents of the 570 would answer aloud, or holding contests, interviewing celebrities and handing out concert tickets and CDs, Rocky and Sue prove every morning why they are radio royalty when it comes to rising and shining. Jumpin’ Jeff Walker, winner of Best Local Radio Personality, is still going strong after how many years? Walker and his band of Wackjobs have been pumping out a steady stream of crazy content and show no sign of slowing down anytime soon.
If you want less talk, more rock, turn the dial over to Best Classic Rock Station winner Rock 107 and start reelin’ in the years. AC/DC, Van Halen, and Rush are here to make your day go by a little bit faster, or to at least help drown out your coworkers who won’t shut up about Dancing with the Stars.
Marywood 91.7 VMFM took the top honor again as Best College Radio Station, while WVIA-FM earned Best Independent/Public Radio Station.
The Times-Tribune’s Josh McAuliffe snagged the Best Newspaper Reporter award for all of his hard work, and for being the man with his finger on the pulse of the city.
What an amazing year for Best Local TV News Personality Ryan Leckey. The Leckenator’s “Ryan’s Run” campaign raised more than raised more than $230,000, and he is also expected to release his first album “Just Getting Started…” on iTunes this month.
And now, for a shameless plug: our hard work here at Times-Shamrock to make the570.com the best site around seems to have paid off this year as it earned the award again for Best Local Website. Surf on over and check out the photo galleries, articles, columns and an extensive entertainment calendar that will be sure to help you plan your days.
