An empowering ‘throw back’
Enjoy art, laughter, wine and shopping on Nov. 13 and aid the Women’s Resource Center

Women Empowered, a new event in the 570, will surely capture the spirit of the famed poet’s sentiments as it will bring women together to help themselves while helping others. The event will be held on Sunday, Nov. 13 at Rock Creek Corporate Center in Olyphant, from 1 to 5 p.m.
Jeannine M. Luby, of Laugh to Live, said the event is designed to be an informative and fun afternoon for women. “At the same time, we’re raising money for two great charities, the Women’s Resource Center and the Humor Therapy Fund of the Scranton Area Foundation.”
The event features a variety of businesses owned by women, chair massages, wine tasting, basket raffles, light refreshments and fare, and paraffin hand dips. In addition, entertainment will be provided by Amanda and White-Toed Cat from 1 to 2 p.m., Mollie Edsell from 2 to 3 p.m., and Jennifer Johnson of the band Cathedra from 3 to 4 p.m. There will also be a silent art auction featuring 10 original paintings by Scranton artist Veronica Smith.
“There are so many good reasons for people to come out. We’ll have Vintner’s Circle doing wine tastings, we’ll have light refreshments, three fabulous musicians and seven different workshops and each one offers something different,” Luby said. “There’s something for every part of your senses something to help with your physical health, mental health and spiritual health. And with all the vendors, people can do some early Christmas shopping. I think it’s going to be a fun day.”
Ladies may want to arrive early and make a game plan to get the most out of your afternoon. When you arrive, be sure to sign up for the workshops you’re interested in (registration sheets will be posted outside the door of each workshop) and then enjoy perusing the vendors and have a sip of wine in between each session.
