If your friends are mean like mine are, constantly mocking you for how often you want to play Scene It, Seinfeld® (the trivia game that lets you show off just how much you know about the famous sitcom about nothing), then here’s a new game to add to your holiday wish list: Scrantonopoly.
As you may have guessed, Scrantonopoly is reminiscent of everyone’s favorite childhood board game, Monopoly®, but with Electric City twists. The board is filled with local references and images. As you travel around the board buying up properties and paying rent with money issued by Fidelity Bank, you’ll notice landmarks such as Gerrity’s Supermarkets, The Mall at Steamtown and the Radisson at Lackawanna Station. If your luck runs out and you land in jail, you’ll go directly to lock-up with Judge Barrasse. It’s just like the game’s motto says: “It’s all fun and games until someone lands in the slammer.” Scrantonopoly is $19.95, and a portion of the proceeds from its sales will benefit Scranton Tomorrow. Limited editions of the game will be in stock next week in the following locations: The Mall at Steamtown (at Albright Memorial Library’s Library Express); all Gerrity’s supermarkets in Lackawanna and Luzerne Counties; all locations of Fidelity Discount & Deposit Bank; and Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs. You may also order the game online on The Times-Tribune’s website, thetimes-tribune.com. For more information, call 963-5901 or 343-6361.
And to all my friends, I was just kidding about you being mean. You’re all invited to my house to play Scrantonopoly on Christmas Eve.
