Depending on who you ask, September is international square dance month, national bourbon heritage month, and alcohol and drug addiction recovery month, national mind-mapping month, national piano month, national chicken month, national biscuit month, national mushroom month, and national honey month. It's also library card sign-up month, pleasure your mate month, Southern gospel music month, national sewing month, international self-awareness month, and most recently, per President George W. Bush, national preparedness month.

Here at ec/dc, we like to think that September is first and foremost "Be Kind to Editors and Writers Month." Especially because it's also shameless promotion month.

The folks at Everything Natural in Clarks Summit, of course, are poised to point out the ninth month's designation as organic harvest month. The health, food and gift store will host a two-day Organic Harvest Gathering and Open House this weekend to bring the community together in seasonal celebration and smart shopping.

Saturday's schedule of events includes a lot of what we've come to expect from Everything Natural. Free samples of wellness classes including yoga for kids (9:30 a.m.), yoga and meditation (10 a.m.), trance dance (11 a.m.), Pilates (noon), and laughter yoga (also at noon, in the outdoor tent) will be offered. Live music by Danny Zeseski, cooking demonstrations by Rebekah Gilette, reflexology demonstrations by Beverly and Kimberly Gordon, and a drum circle will continue throughout the afternoon from 1-3 p.m. Other highlights include jewelry making and displays and a martial arts demo at 2 p.m. A "decadence bar" featuring tastings by Nimble Hill Winery, LeRaysville Cheese, Dagoba Chocolates and coffee by Electric City Roasting Company will draw epicureans also from 1 to 3 p.m.

The main event, however, might very well be the grand opening of the store's new Studio Gallery on Friday night. Everything Natural will inaugurate its new space with the artwork of well-known Dalton portrait artist Marylou Chibirka. Live piano music by David Kern will also be featured at an opening reception from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Following the reception, Debbie Koshinski of the Let's Dance studio will offer a ballroom dance lesson and host a festive dance party.
